If you do not intend to practise in Aotearoa New Zealand, you can choose to cancel your registration with the Board.
If you cancel your registration:
- you would not be able to call yourself a physiotherapist in Aotearoa New Zealand
- you would no longer receive information and updates from the Board, and
- you will not be required to maintain your competence as a health practitioner.
Please note that if you are the subject of an ongoing investigation associated with a historical complaint, we cannot cancel your registration. Once this has been resolved we can proceed with cancelling your registration with the Board should you wish to do so at that time.
There is no fee for this application.
Should you wish at a future point to restore your registration you can do so.
Step 1: Locate the Application
Log into the MyPBNZ portal, navigate to New Submissions, and select Cancellation Request.

Step 2: Complete the Details
Review and accept the privacy statement. You will then be asked to provide a reason for your cancellation. If necessary, you can upload supporting documentation at this stage.

Step 3: Review and Submit
Review the summary of your cancellation request. If all information is correct, click Submit to send your request to the Board for processing.
