To legally practise as a physiotherapist in Aotearoa New Zealand, you must be registered with the Physiotherapy Board and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). If you are not currently practising but wish to maintain your registration, you may apply for Non‐Practising Status.
Step 1: Locate the Application
Log into the MyPBNZ portal, navigate to New Submissions, and select Application for Annual Practising Certificate.

Step 2: Select Your Status
Choose the option appropriate for your situation:
- Annual Practising Certificate OR
- Non‐Practising Status

Step 3: Provide Overseas Registration Details
In the Supplementary Information section, enter the registration details for any regulatory authority you have been registered and worked under within the last three years.

Step 4: Upload Certified Documentation & Recency of Practice
- Certificates of Good Standing: Upload Certificates of Good Standing for any regulatory authority you worked under in the last three years. Ensure all uploaded documents are officially certified.
- Recency of Practice: If applicable to your situation, ensure you tick the box under the Recency of Practice section.


Step 5: Fitness to Practise Declaration
Review your answers in the Fitness to Practise Information section and edit them if necessary to ensure they are accurate and up to date.

Step 6: Select Payment Option
Select your applicable payment method.
Important Note on Employer Payments: Only select “My employer will pay” if you have confirmed that your employer has a pre‐approved payment arrangement directly with the Board.

Step 7: Review and Submit
Review the summary of your application. If all information is correct, click Submit.

Step 8: Complete Payment
Click Pay Now. A secure window will pop up for you to enter your payment details.
- Please note that the Board only accepts credit card and debit/credit card payments.
