On 17 February 2021, Jacinda Ardern, our Prime Minister announced that from 11.59pm Wednesday 17 February: Auckland will move to COVID‐19 alert level 2 (with the exception of students and school community of Papatoetoe High School who are required to remain in self‐isolation until a negative COVID‐19 test result) COVID‐19 Alert

One year on from the 2019 Whakaari eruption, we remember the lives lost and acknowledge the efforts of many during the tragedy. On this day 47 people were on the volcano when it erupted, mainly tourists. Twenty‐two have died and 22 were seriously injured.
